The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2024 Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) Behavioral Health (BH) Data Book, pursuant to Section 202 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (CAA, 2024; P.L. 118-42).
CMS is also pleased to announce that the 2024 data is now available through the T-MSIS Behavioral Health Data Book Dashboard, also congressionally mandated under the CAA, 2024. The dashboard complements the Data Book by providing interactive visualizations of the same data, allowing users to explore national- and state-level information on Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries treated for a substance use disorder (SUD), a mental health (MH) condition, or co-occurring SUD and MH conditions. This interactive format supports deeper analysis of trends within these populations to inform policy decisions.
CMS released the inaugural T-MSIS Behavioral Health Data Book Dashboard, containing calendar years 2022–2023 data, on August 28, 2026. This November release now includes 2024 data as noted above.
