The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a five-year renewal of Illinois’ “Continuity of Care and Administrative Simplification” section 1115 demonstration. This renewal allows the state to continue automatic re-enrollment into the enrollee’s prior managed care organization when a beneficiary loses Medicaid eligibility due to a failure to complete the renewal process and is redetermined eligible, without a new application, if that person submits redetermination paperwork within 90 days after termination. This demonstration ensures the state can continue simplifying its administration of Medicaid and help beneficiaries receive continuous coverage.
This demonstration renewal is effective from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2031. Today’s approval and other administrative documents can be found on the Medicaid.gov demonstration page.
