Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a new section 1115 demonstration for the State of Utah titled “Traditional Healing Demonstration.” This new section 1115 demonstration allows the state to receive Medicaid federal financial participation (FFP) for providing traditional health care practices services through Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities, Tribal facilities, or urban Indian organization facilities to eligible Medicaid beneficiaries.
This demonstration is effective from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2031. Today’s approval and other administrative documents can be found on the Medicaid.gov demonstration page.
