Asthma affects approximately 6 million children in the United States.

Asthma is the most common chronic lung disease of childhood, affecting approximately 6 million children in the United States. This Vital Signs report reveals one in 12 children aged 0–17 years had asthma in 2016. Asthma was found to be more prevalent among boys, non-Hispanic black children, children of Puerto Rican descent, and children from low-income households.
