| When we first met nine-year-old Dyllan, he kept his head down most of the time. Nurses would only see a glimpse of a smile, a shy glimpse in their direction. It’s a miracle Dyllan’s still alive. When Dyllan was three, a gust of wind knocked a pot of boiling water onto Dyllan. The pain and screams were horrifying. His grandmother, Augustine, says, “I was terrified that Dyllan might die because of the burns.” Now, you can usually hear Dyllan before you see him, giggling and yelling our volunteers’ names before running away.
