The Future of RA
Rheumatoid arthritis is not only a disease of the joints. It's a systemic autoimmune disease that affects the heart and other organs. Fortunately, many treatments are available. Since every RA patient is different, doctors will try each treatment for about 3 months, switching from one to the other to see what works.

Researchers are working on how to determine which drugs will work best for a patient without the trial-and-error, says Andrew Wang, MD, PhD. Wang believes this research will yield new treatment options within 10 years.

Read on for more about how to keep doing the things you love, how one woman with lifelong RA talks to others about the disease, and more.
