Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a Center Informational Bulletin providing general information on the Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Basic Health Program (BHP) related provisions in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) of 2021.

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the ARP into law which represents the largest expansion of health coverage for the American people since the Affordable Care Act in 2010, and has a significant and immediate impact on state Medicaid, CHIP and BHP programs and beneficiaries.

CMS intends to issue additional guidance in the coming months on certain provisions, and will continue to offer technical assistance to states as they begin to implement these changes.
