Shah, in the organization's Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases (CCID), this image depicts a worker standing amidst the rubble demonstrating the use of wireless mobile technology to perform population-based, active surveillance, which had been implemented by CDC's International Emerging Infections Program in Kenya using local Kenyan staff.

This image was created in 2006 by CDC Field Support Officer, Tove Ryman, M.P.H., with the Strengthening Childhood Immunization Team in the Global Measles Branch of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). This picture was taken during a routine immunization-coverage survey in Assam, India, which was conducted in order to collect baseline coverage data used to evaluate the effectiveness of a routine immunization program.
